Hey Everyone,

This is a small secretive Creator Economy Newsletter, but I sometimes think about how I’m providing your value?

Recently I admired Hamish’s view of how he’d like to see Substack Notes evolve.

On Substack
Laurie Stone is using Notes to seduce new readers
Watch now (56 min) | What excites me most about Notes is that it is a new space for storytelling. When we first launched Notes, some people started off importing their assumptions about how other “social media” platforms work—there were a few scuffles, a little bit of trolling, occasional bouts of virtue signaling—but it quickly became apparent that Notes is something diffe…

That’s actually how I see Post News evolving, not Notes. Post News recently launched its iOS app. I’ve been closely monitoring all of the twitter clones and it’s Post where I see cultural and literary authors thriving, whiles Notes functionally is a better way to reach other writers and our peers. Post News has that artsy sort of feel where I’d actually read short stories, poems and that sort of thing.

  • Random: have you ever done a survey to your Newsletter audience? Check out this interesting one by Alberto Romero. Very interesting how he is seeking feedback on his topics, formats and so forth.

🎬 It’s time to start a YouTube

There’s never been a better time for a Substack author or Newsletter writer to experiment with YouTube Shorts and start a YouTube channel.

YouTube is lowering the requirements for creators to get access to monetization tools under the YouTube Partner Program (YPP). The company is expanding its shopping affiliate program to U.S.-based creators who are part of YPP and have more than 20,000 subscribers.

The Google-owned company said that the new conditions to be qualified for the partner program are:

  • Having 500 subscribers;

  • 3 public uploads in the last 90 days;

  • and either 3,000 watch hours in the past year or 3 million Shorts views in the last 90 days.

Previously, the conditions were:

  • Having at least 1,000 subscribers;

  • and either 4,000 watch hours in the past year or 10 million Shorts views in the last 90 days.
