Hey Everyone,
I’m pretty fond of Creator Economy reports. I read them whenever I can. On Substack I think we can also learn something from these things.
Unveiling the 2023 State of the Creator Economy Report
Curious about why creators are feeling so optimistic about 2023? ConvertKit gathered insights from more than 1,200 creators to explore the state of the creator economy. Discover the top channels creators are using to connect with their audience, which monetization strategies are gaining popularity, how creators are incorporating AI (or not), and other key findings about the creator economy.
CK asked more than 1,200 creators about their plans for the year ahead—here’s what we can learn.
01 There’s a new wave of full-time creators
Nearly half of the creators in our survey started building their audience in the last two years, and this new wave of creators is entering an established industry. 39% of creators work on their business full-time, and in the past year alone, 15% of creators left ”traditional“ 9-to-5 roles to pursue their creator business professionally.
Most of these creators balance multiple roles from day one of their creator journeys. Half of part-time and hobbyist creators also have a full-time job, while 20% of that group juggle creating alongside a part-time position.
I find some of the details of the report oddly comforting and motivating. It’s that feeling that you aren’t alone in the wacky decisions you make, like entering the Creator Economy and finding some aspects of being an indiepreneur attractive and gratifying.
