Spencer Ackman, who coves the War on Terror.

Hey Guys,

I’m always searching for Substack in the News. I don’t always like what I find.

I like to report on the future of media and I’m proud to be on a platform free from censorship. But if I’m critical of Substack, will I be punished or be treated differently? Will someone hold a grudge against me (at this company)? I did not frankly, even consider the possibility.

But that’s what accountability journalism is though right? We are trying to depict a version of the truth.

While mainstream Media are critical of Substack as a matter of routine, the latest allegations in a Verge article got me downright worried. I’m all for Chief Writing Officers at Substack, but what if what I write can be used against me?

I’ve always been a bit perplexed by Substack Pro Deals, but clearly some of them do not turn out so well.

What if what you write could get you fired. Covering Substack in the press is not your usual treasure hunt.
